Updated: Jul 9, 2023

Day 9 Mission Report

Morning Operations

Each day, each member of the crew conducts the Corsi Block Test that is designed to test special working memory. Special working memory is a metric that is being used to measure crew cognitive performance effected by an analog environment.

EVA Operations

The crew had no scheduled Extra Vehicular Activity’s (EVA) today. Instead, MS Pierce and the crew analyzed data and video from the previous MOB3 test along with historical video from NASA EVA missions.

Additionally, preparations were made for EVA MOB4 endurance test that involves utilizing the NDX-2 in conjunction with the load distribution harness and the trekking poles. The EVA profile includes 60 minutes of walking on a flat and level surface while monitoring speed, distance, suit temperature, CO2, and HR.

Plant Module

An early start is a part of the plant module operations, today the lights came on at the usual 8am. They run at 12 hours on 12 hours off. At the higher than average nanometer wavelengths the lights can be stressful to the younger plants growth rates.

All other botany growth experiments are performing as expected. Harvest day is approaching.

Evening Operations

In the afternoon and evening, the crew continued to create new content for the APUS Analog Research Group YouTube page. The YouTube page is an important tool for both chronicling the mission and research, as well as providing an outlet for media outreach.
