Day 12 is the crew’s last full day in the habitat. They spent the day packing up their experiments, cleaning the habitat, packing personal gear, and taking inventory of food, and media files.
Mission Specialist Malnack is wrapping up his MRE study and will consume the last of his MRE entrees tonight, but he is certainly ready to be done with squeeze cheese and crackers. Overall, he documented 3-4 hours worth of HD video and he continues to work on organizing the data and working on his rough draft blueprints. While it can be difficult to compare the effect of Earth’s precipitation on the habitat to the conditions on Mars, this is important research to contribute to plans for future habitats on Mars. We are excited to see what comes of his research, it has been a great project to watch develop.
Mission Specialist Turner is wrapping up her GreenHab research. She collected a lot of good data and is proud of the research conducted during this mission. She looks forward to compiling all of her data and working on ideas for future missions. She is very grateful for this wonderful opportunity and sends a big thank you to UND for the seeds, and ability to support their studies.
Communications research is wrapping up as well. The crew is looking forward to the return of 5G communication speed on Earth. They are excited to get back to direct means of contact with family, friends, and colleagues. They are grateful for the support they received from the AARG Communications team, Mission Control, and UND for maintaining communication.
The Human Factors studies have concluded, all experiments are packed up and data is off to the researcher.
Stay tuned for the egress post!
